Spa Magazine Cover shot at Mii amo destination spa in Sedona. Mii amo spa in Sedona is one of my favorite luxury destination spas. It is a very special place tucked into a canyon amidst the red rocks of Sedona. We spent about a week in Sedona covering the feature and the cover. This was my 2nd time to Mii amo and loved it just as much this time around. It was an inspiring place, very magical setting and the food was to die for. Mii amo was awarded the best destination spa in the world by Travel & Leisure in 2009.
We shot architecture, gourmet food, landscapes, portraits, lifestyle and spa still life. We had a fabulous time collaborating with the Spa Magazine creative team and the Mii amo staff treated us like royalty. The feature story was about Veronica Cribb who won a week long retreat through a Spa Magazine contest. She is an inspiration. The weather was a bit challenging on this shoot at times. For the cover shot above, I had a jacket underneath my down filled winter coat and was still cold! Check out some behind the scenes photos at the bottom.

Luxury Resort & Spa Video Production – Tahiti
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009This is a video production we did at a luxury resort, hotel and spa in Tahiti. This luxury resort and spa was located on a private island. This video was shot over two days. We had some serious tropical storms to deal with in the midst of our video shoot. Fashion Client Photography Shoot

This is a recent fashion shoot we did for a client in San Francisco. We experimented with some different lighting techniques on the first part of the shoot. I love her big hair. Some of the images took on a Japanese look once our stylist brought out a kimono dress and founds some chopsticks in the kitchen.

Luxury Resort and Spa Video in Napa Valley, California
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009This is a short film we did for at a Luxury Eco-friendly Resort, Hotel, and Spa last June in wine country, California. Spa Solage was voted the #2 Spa in the US by Travel & Leisure Magazine. We shot two days with models, alternating between photography stills and video motion. This was shot with the Canon 5D Mark II.
We had a great time on this photography shoot with our fantastic crew and models. We stayed at the resort for a full week spending two days shooting the spa lifestyle content and the remainder shooting architectural, food, and detail photos. This luxury resort is right up our alley, modern design, eco-friendly, luxurious, California cuisine, amazing spa and mineral pool, we were in heaven.

I have been wanting to photograph a redhead in nature for awhile now. We just did this shoot last week. No plan or shot list for this shoot, just went out and played. Shot at the ink wells, a secret swimming hole in Marin County in California out by Lagunitas. I once shot a CD cover out here many years ago and forgot about it until recently when we were driving by. It’s a beautiful little spot.

Luxury Hotel & Resort Photography- St. Barths

Last year we did a photography shoot at a Luxury Hotel & Resort on the island of St. Barths in the French West Indies. This luxury hotel was recently designed by famed Parisian designer Christian Liaigre. The resort was very good to us and made our stay wonderful. This luxury hotel is located on a private beach and was noted by The Travel Channel as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
We loved the beautiful modern design architecture of the rooms and bathrooms – our room was right on the beach. We spent two days photographing with models and then we picked up some extra images of food, architectural photos and hotel details the rest of the week.

Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle in California

This is a fashion and lifestyle photography shoot we did with an up and coming model named Emma Aikens who is represented by Cast Images out of Sacramento. Emma is only 16, and very adorable as you can see. Sometimes we shoot indoors and outdoors in the same day, but it takes a little planning. With Emma we decided to do some studio photos for a few hours and then head out into nature.
The grass images were shot in our front yard, and the nature images were taken up north in Novato. Near the end of the shoot a herd of cows came to visit us, they were very inquisitive and would come within inches to sniff you if you stood still enough. You can see them at the end of this post.
